Does anyone else automatically go into hibernation mode when fall arrives? All I want are fluffy socks, endless pumpkin lattes and a warm fireplace. I’m the fall cliché and as fun as it is nestling away in my sparkly cave of warmth, I like to poke my head out and you know, meet with three-dimensional people. What I’ve noticed is that I’ll wear the same uniform of black leggings, a chunky sweater and a pair of cute boots only to have salt fly on them. When I was sixteen a friend of mine placed grocery bags with elastics (I know right? Criiiiinge) on her new suede boots as she stepped on the bus. I was mortified but in hindsight, she was clever because salt is the Mephistopheles of all gorgeous footwear. I’m laughing because Chanel is doing something similar in one of their collections. I bet some employee that helped design them somehow knew my nifty little friend.
This year I have decided to change it up which is why I was so excited about my collab with Tobi. They’re such a great and affordable clothing line with endless options. I had a fun time choosing items that were not things I would normally sport in the fall. I adore black in winter, uh-huh color of my soul, it’s all I want to wear but I have to admit, I love this rose cold shoulder sweater dress. When I put it on I wondered, why on earth wasn’t I making more of an effort in cooler temperatures? This is so perfect for the day and can transition so nicely into evening. Lose the boots for heels and voila, it’s the perfect date dress! I think the color is super beautiful and can go with any skin tone. It’s a deep rose shade that goes so well with my new pink Club Monaco coat.
I’ve wanted this particular shade of pink in a coat for so long but I could never find the right fit, feel or length. I did have to alter the length of it because I’m vertically impeded and now it’s perfect and ridiculously warm. I think I can have a total Dr. Zhivago moment with my outfit in the snow, although I don’t think I’d like to be in a horse drawn carriage, I’d be too worried about the horses being cold and tired. Also, this is not a kind of coat where a plethora of carrots would fit in my pocket.
Let’s have a moment for this Chanel beret. I swear, I don’t know how some women look so effortlessly stylish in a beret. As much as I love wearing one I feel like at some point in the day it slides down my head and covers my eye so I look more like a pirate, albeit a chic one.
This dress looks lovely belted or on its own. I tend to want to nip everything in at the waist because I like to create an hourglass shape, but it can look just as fabulous with a statement belt like this Gucci Marmont one. If you don’t to want to wear it as a dress, leave the sweater belted, scrunch it up a little and put on a pair of leather leggings or slim pants, it looks really pretty that way.
I have a few more blogposts coming with my collaboration with Tobi so stay tuned!
